Checks any ship, company or person against sanctions-evasion research and the US, UK, EU and UN sanctions lists, with a source behind every answer.
[Four official lists refreshed every night by a fail-closed pipeline; about 9,700 citations point to the exact list entry, filing or legal act; 180+ tests.]

A personal project for journalists and researchers covering how Russia, Iran and others get around sanctions, built on the research from VeilTrace.
- Problem: to check one tanker or company you have to search four government sanctions lists, a sanctions aggregator and lobbying filings separately, and most results don't say where a fact came from.
- What it does: one search for a ship name, IMO number, company or person returns a research dossier with a timeline, the official US, UK, EU and UN entries, a wider OpenSanctions check (95 sources), and connections: owners, managers, linked companies and US lobbying from lda.gov.
- Stories: the shadow-fleet map, who lobbies, semiconductors into Russia, and how sanctions work, plus a five-step "Follow one tanker" walkthrough.
- Nightly data: a GitHub Actions job refreshes every list each night. Each source fails on its own: a list that fails to download, changes shape or shrinks by more than 20% keeps yesterday's copy and opens an issue, and the publishing job runs none of the project's code and commits only allowlisted JSON.
- Receipts: every citation links to the specific OFAC or UK list entry, lobbying or FARA filing, or EU legal act rather than a home page; uptime is monitored on a public status page.
